The Magic of Our Memories

A Humanities Iowa Presentation

  • When: Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 7 p.m.
  • Tama County Historical Society - 200 N Broadway Street in Toledo, IA

Iowans are a people with roots. We grow well in the black soil that blankets our state, in this land between two rivers. Here are our homes, our families, our personal memories and the genealogy that is our past and present. We’ll discuss the importance of those memories, delighting in the commonality we share. We’ll also consider the richness that emerges when we consider our genealogical tree, the lives of those who came before us, and the richness we can pass on to those who come after. Come ready to participate.

Imagine being with a group of vibrant women who are tending their souls in a lovely, safe space. You will share this enriching time and space with others who come to experience writing as an entrance to the deeper self, doing so in the context of creative reflection, song, and dialogue.  There will be time to relax, reflect, explore and expand your writing skills. You’ll relate to others equally intent on further discovery, celebration of purpose and direction in life — all emerging as blessing.

Joyce Rupp offers her extensive experience of spiritual growth through creative ritual and reflective conferences. Author Mary Kay Shanley takes retreat groups through inventive processes that develop and hone writing abilities.
